Ms. Gionteris has been working in the field of HIV/AIDS research for 13 years. Previously, she served as data manager on a number of federally funded HIV/AIDS research studies while working at the Yale AIDS Program. These studies include 'HIV Infection and Risk Behavior among Incarcerated Women', 'Studies of TB Among Drug Injectors in Connecticut', and 'Provision of Needle Exchange-Based Health Services'. In addition, she served as data manager for the Nathan Smith Clinic, an outpatient HIV clinic at Yale New Haven Hospital; Leeway, a long term care facility for persons living with AIDS; and the CHCV: Community Healthcare Van, a mobile healthcare unit that follows the New Haven Needle Exchange van.
In 2001 she joined CIRA and has served in a variety of systems and data management capacities. Her role at CIRA as Systems and Data Manager includes oversight of the CIRA internet and intranet websites as well as database design, maintenance and development for the Center. In addition, she works to provide services and systems support to the Center and it’s Affiliated Scientists.
Katina has a degree in mathematics with a sociology minor from the University of New Haven. She worked for managed healthcare companies and defense contractors before arriving at Yale University. She previously volunteered her time with the Mayor’s Task Force on AIDS and the Ryan White Title I Planning Committee. Her areas of expertise include Microsoft Access database development with some Visual Basic programming and SAS programming. She and her husband Manuel have three sons, Eleftherios, Konstantinos, and Dimitrios. |
