Brief Bio:
Dr. Hansen is a clinical psychologist and an Assistant Professor at the Consultation Center in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. His research centers on the intersection of trauma, particular interpersonal violence, and negative health consequences, such as psychiatric disorders, substance abuse, and sexual risk behavior. Dr Hansen is working on projects implementing individual and group psychotherapy interventions with adults who experienced sexual abuse as children and/or adolescents, with aims: (1) to reduce traumatic distress, and (2) to increase health-protective behavior, including reducing substance use and sexual risk behavior. He is also currently involved in (1) a project to enhance coping among HIV-infected older adults, and (2) a project with newly HIV diagnosed men aiming to reduce HIV transmission risk behavior and enhance coping and entry into care.
