International Research Core
The International Research (IR) Core coordinates and provides administrative support for CIRA's international research and training activities. It facilitates HIV prevention research abroad by providing technical expertise on international aspects of HIV/AIDS. China, India, Russia and South Africa are the primary locations of current collaborations, which include training of visiting scientists at Yale. The IR Core members include internationally renowned scientists from diverse disciplinary backgrounds like epidemiology, medicine, ethics, sociology, policy, economics, and community research. The Core members have designed and implemented HIV/AIDS prevention research projects with injection drug users, sex workers, orphans and vulnerable children and several other high-risk and vulnerable groups.
