Methodology and Biostatistics CoreThe Methodology and Biostatistics (M&B) Core provides centralized expertise and resources in support of research design, and the collection, management, and analysis of data. The Core's expertise is focused in the three areas of: quantitative methods and biostatistics, qualitative methods and ethnography, and data collection and management. The Core also supports the development of cross-study analyses, and new methodologies, models, and software applications for data analysis in CIRA research. In addition, the M&B Core organizes a monthly seminar and workshop series highlighting topics in methods and study design, maintains a Measurement Resource File, and collates model surveys and data collection instruments for use in HIV prevention research.

The M&B Core offers a variety of services to CIRA Affiliated Projects and Scientists, including:
- Conduct required and investigator-initiated consultations in design, data management, and analysis
- Foster development of new methodological research and research using novel methods
- Provide support for development of data entry, tracking, and verification systems
- Provide support for statistical analysis
- Prepare reports for project management
- Maintain client software licenses and documentation
- Investigate and report on software and other technologies
