NEW! A Silent Epidemic: Black Women Across the Globe and HIV/1AIDS
A Community Roundtable and Luncheon

Join New Haven and Yale community leaders and service providers for a discussion about the state of black women living with HIV and AIDS. With a generous grant from the Community Foundation, participants will also receive a free ticket to the Yale Repertory Theatre production of "IN THE CONTINUUM", a play that puts a human face on the devastating impact of AIDS in Africa and America through the lives of two unforgettably courageous women. A Talk Back with actors immediately follows the performance.

NEW! NIH Fiscal Policy for Grant Awards - FY 2007 (NOT-OD-07-030)
This Notice provides guidance to the extramural community about the NIH’s Fiscal Operations Plan for FY2007. Faced with a markedly increased number of applications and applicants for grant support at a time of flat budgets with no inflationary adjustments, NIH is taking immediate proactive steps in FY2007 to manage its portfolio of investments in biomedical research. NIH is committed to buttressing core areas of vulnerability, such as the ability of new investigators to compete for support in these difficult financial times, and protecting our investment in well established investigators with little or no other significant support. In addition, NIH is adjusting the number of competing Research Project Grants (RPG) that will be awarded, with the goal of stabilizing to the extent possible the yearly variation in number of awards that are made.

NEW! Notice Regarding the Availability of Competitive Supplements to Study Sex/Gender Differences in Drug Abuse (NOT-DA-07-006)
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is pleased to announce its interest in receiving grant applications for competitive supplements aimed at furthering our understanding of sex/gender differences in drug abuse. The purpose of this competitive supplement program is to increase the number of NIDA-funded investigators who conduct sex/gender analyses and take a sex/gender-based approach in their NIDA-supported research. This program is part of NIDA’s efforts to foster the integration of a sex/gender-based approach in all areas of drug abuse research.Applicants must hold a NIDA RO1 award that will have at least one year remaining at the time of the issuance of the competitive supplement award. The duration of the award may not exceed the end date of the active parent grant. The proposed research must be clearly within the scope of the parent grant.
