New! CIRA is happy to announce that it is currently seeking proposals for its Sixth Annual Community Research Partnership Program (CRPP) Grant Competition in HIV Prevention Research. This program aims to support the conduct of research by CBOs in collaboration with CIRA scientists, and thereby to build the research capacity of CBOs while addressing a community HIV prevention need.
- CIRA plans to fund up to two projects this year, with a maximum award for individual projects of $25,000.
- All applicants must have a CIRA scientist as a collaborator on the project. CIRA will help applicants identify an appropriate CIRA scientist collaborator.
- CBOs must submit a short Letter of Intent describing their research idea to Leif Mitchell (Leif.Mitchell@yale.edu) by Friday, November 14, 2008.

NEW! SAVE THIS DATE for the 2009 AIDS Walk New Haven: Sunday, April 26 on the New Haven Green

Already, Yale students have begun planning for New Haven's 5th annual Walk and the organizing committee is very enthusiastic for next spring. We hope to stay in close contact with the HIV / AIDS community throughout the year as the success and spirit of the event is deeply rooted in the participation of the Mayor's Task Force organizations.

Beginning with applications intended for the January 25, 2009 due date, all original new applications (i.e., never submitted) and competing renewal applications will be permitted only a single amendment (A1). For this and subsequent cohorts of original new and competing renewal applications, any second amendment (A2) will be administratively withdrawn and not accepted for review. Applicants who fail to receive funding after two submissions may resubmit but only if the application is fundamentally revised to qualify as new. A new application is expected to be substantially different in content and scope with more significant differences than are normally encountered in an amended application. Note that there is no time limit for the submission of the original and subsequent A1.

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation: Now Accepting Proposals for Grand Challenges Explorations Round 2

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced on September 3, 2008 that it is now accepting grant proposals for Round 2 of Grand Challenges Explorations, a five-year US$100 million initiative to encourage bold and unconventional research on new global health solutions.
