Community Planning Panel on Assessment and Evaluation
Introduction
Through the collaborative meetings between the leadership of the Community Planning Group (CPG) and the Ryan White Planning Bodies (RWPB)-referred to as the "collaborative leadership" throughout this document-a recommendation was made that a group of "experts" be formed to advise these groups on assessment and evaluation work. Leif Mitchell, Community Research Core Coordinator for the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS (CIRA) and CPG Co-Chair, agreed to coordinate the CPG/RWPB Panel on Assessment and Evaluation-referred to as the "the Panel" throughout this document-and prepare the Panel's recommendations for the October 5, 2001 collaborative meeting. At the October 5, 2001 collaborative meeting, feedback was given to the Panel. The Panel met in December 2001 to revise the recommendations. The following represents the final recommendations of the Panel to the CPG and the RWPB-referred to as the "Planning Bodies" throughout this document. Members The meetings were open to all co-chairs of the Planning Bodies as well as the co-chairs of each assessment and evaluation committee or their designated staff and any other interested parties. The following people participated in at least one of the four meetings between July and December:

Process
It is the position of the Panel that the Planning Bodies will utilize these standard recommendations. The Panel will meet as needed to review issues relating to assessment and evaluation that surface for each of the Planning Bodies. CIRA has been selected as the organization to carry out recommendations 3, 4, and 5 below. However, CIRA is not specifically listed in the recommendations because the Panel felt it was important that these recommendations remain general.
