Scientific Expert Consultations
- Individual consultations are available at every stage of the research process and consist of one-on-one consult with a Core scientist or other scientific experts. The Core will consult on all aspects of community-based research (CBR) from theoretical principles, to data collection and analysis, to publication of findings. Consultations may be for the purposes of advising projects on procedural matters (e.g. training research staff to work in inner city neighborhoods), discussing theoretical models of CBR (e.g. participatory research models), or helping investigators identify community research partners.
- Core consultations consist of an informal presentation at a monthly Core meeting by scientists and/or research staff of affiliated projects. These consultations provide CIRA scientists a non-threatening environment in which to discuss possible community-based research issues that may arise from their projects. Investigators are asked to come to a regular monthly meeting prepared to briefly describe their project and participate in a discussion (approximately 30 minutes). Core consultations may also be used by CIRA scientists to discuss projects at very early stages of development, particularly those that raise significant community-based research issues.
