Request for Applications CIRA International Travel Awards
The Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS (CIRA) invites applications for the CIRA International Travel Award (CITA). This award is a new initiative to further the development of new, externally funded research grant applications. CIRA recognizes the challenges associated with establishing international research partnerships, as well as the need to undertake field visits to potential international research sites. The CITA supports international travel for these purposes as a step in the preparation of a grant proposal.
CIRA plans to fund up to two CITAs under this RFA, in 2006, each with a maximum award of $5,000. Funding will be provided with the expectation that successful research partnerships will emerge to further CIRA's mission to conduct research on the prevention of HIV infection and the reduction of the negative consequences of HIV disease in vulnerable and underserved populations. We would hope that the CITA will help lead to an externally funded research grant. CIRA does not fund research on the basic biology of HIV or research to develop new HIV treatments.
ELIGIBILITY:
The program is open to all full-time faculty at Yale and their equivalents at CIRA's two collaborating institutions, the Hispanic Health Council and The Institute for Community Research. The award is intended to support the travel of scientists who have already identified potential international research partners and research projects. The award is not intended to support travel that could be financed through the applicant's existing research or training grants.
APPLICATION:
Completed applications should include the following:
- Narrative statement of PI's research, expertise and career goals [maximum 300 words]
- Project description [This should include a summary of the intended research project, a description of the potential international research partner and institution, including any previous collaborations with the applicant, and an explanation of how the travel award will further a grant submission--maximum 3 pages]
- Potential funders of the research project and type of grant
- Budget--not exceeding $5,000
- Copy of invitation from international collaborator (e.g. letter, email)
Note: Please do not submit appendices with the application. Applications should use Times New Roman font size 12, single-spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides.
SUBMISSION:
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis and may be submitted electronically until 12/01/2006. Completed applications should be emailed to RESHMA.TRASI@YALE.EDU [Subject: Application for CITA]. We encourage you to contact Reshma Trasi (RESHMA.TRASI@YALE.EDU; 203-764-7264) for any questions or clarifications.
