Pilot Projects in HIV/AIDS Prevention Research

CIRA periodically seeks proposals for pilot projects in HIV prevention research. The purpose of this program is to allow scientists to respond to rapidly evolving opportunities and advances in this research area and to generate pilot results that will serve as the basis for an investigator-initiated grant application to an external funding agency. Proposed projects should be consistent with CIRA's mission to conduct research on the prevention of HIV infection and the reduction of the negative consequences of HIV disease in vulnerable and underserved populations.

We welcome submissions for projects undertaken in either domestic or international settings. We do not fund research on the basic biology of HIV or research to develop new HIV treatments. We will consider a proposal to supplement a study that is already funded by another source only if the proposed project is an add-on sub-project to the funded project and is distinct and self-contained.

THERE ARE NO OPEN RFAs AVAILABLE THROUGH CIRA
