Diversity Candidates

Given the wide scope and changing nature of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, it is critical to ensure that we are engaging with new scientists at all levels and from diverse backgrounds and fields. CIRA's Development Core aims to encourage new investigators, particularly those from underrepresented groups, to undertake HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment research.

Research Supplements to Promote Diversity

DIVERSITY SUPPLEMENTS
Our aim is to "match" eligible candidates to CIRA affiliated projects for the purposes of applying for diversity supplement funding. We want to hear from any individuals who are interested in being matched to one of the projects listed below.

Prospective candidates should contact Jon Atherton of CIRA's Development Core (jon.atherton@yale.edu or 203-764-4338).
Central to this work, the Center supports its affiliated scientists in applying for funding under the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Research Supplements to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research PA Number: PA-08-190. These grants are available "...to improve the diversity of the research workforce by supporting and recruiting students, post-doctorates, and eligible investigators from groups that have been shown to be underrepresented". More detailed information is provided in the above link.

Our aim is to identify a pool of underrepresented talent at all levels (e.g. post-B.A., pre-doctoral, post-doctoral, junior faculty) from which to match qualified, eligible and interested candidates with CIRA affiliated projects. Individual applications for diversity supplements will be submitted where a good match is found.
