NIMH Interdisciplinary HIV Prevention Training Program Post-Doctoral Fellowship Application
CIRA is offering a Post-Doctoral Fellowship through its Interdisciplinary HIV Prevention Training Program. CIRA seeks to prevent HIV infection and reduce the negative consequences of HIV in vulnerable and underserved populations through theory-based, interdisciplinary research and by training the next generation of HIV/AIDS scientists. We will consider qualified applicants with degrees (Ph.D, M.D., J.D. or equivelant) in social, behavioral, medical, epidemiological, or biological sciences. Preference will be given to applicants with backgrounds in mathematical modeling, HIV prevention among injection drug users, and/or HIV prevention in Eastern Europe/Russia.

Candidates who wish to apply should complete the short Data Collection form and send it, together with a one page Professional Statement, full CV, and two writing samples, to jon.atherton@yale.edu. Candidates will find more information at http://cira.med.yale.edu/opportunities/nimhpostdoc.html. The application period will remain open until further notice. Review of candidates will commence on January 16th.

CIRA draws upon the expertise of HIV prevention scientists at Yale University from a broad array of 25 disciplines. Yale University provides an exceptional training environment where Fellows gain the skills to advance prevention research and to address future challenges of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and other emerging diseases.

The Fellowship will run for a 2 year training period. Fellows:
- are trained within CIRA, working closely with a research preceptor from among the Center's Primary Training Faculty;
- will be encouraged to write articles for publications and prepare an extramural grant application in an HIV-related area;
- must have a Ph.D., M.D., or J.D.
Candidates must be US citizens or have non-citizen national or permanent resident status at the time of application. Persons from underrepresented groups, including those with disabilities or from disadvantaged backgrounds, are strongly encouraged to apply.
