Bibliographic Databases
CIRA has a number of bibliographic databases created by different cores and projects within CIRA. Some bibliographies are available to search through our online bibliograpic database system and others are downloadable documents. Below is a list of bibliographic databases separated by whether they are currently available or will be available in the future.
Current Bibliographies
Secure the Future Bibliographic Database
The databases accessible here provide country-specific HIV/AIDS prevention and care references. There is a database for each of the countries where CIRA has at least three research and training projects: Russia, South Africa, India, and China. In addition, there is a database for each country that is included in the Secure the Future initiative: South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Cote D'Ivoire, Senegal, Mali, and Burkina Faso. They contain references and abstracts of scientific, peer-reviewed journal articles on HIV prevention and care. Source databases include PubMed, CABHealth, Popline, Psychinfo, National Library of Medicine Gateway, Medline, African Health Anthology, AMED, and CINAHL. These databases are intended for use by both CIRA scientists and Secure the Future grantees to allow easy access to the scientific literature, and thus facilitate the development and implementation of relevant research and program projects.
Community Research Core
Rather than maintaining a database, the Community Research Core semi-annually updates several bibliographies. These are Reviews of Domestic HIV Intervention Research and Bibliography of Community University Collaborations, which are available on the Internet for CIRA Scientists and community partners.
Future Bibliographies
Measurement Resource File
This file created by the Methodology and Biostatistics Core will include questionnaires, clinical instruments, scales, and other measures used in CIRA research and/or described in the published HIV prevention research literature. The M&B Core will maintain a bibliography containing original references to these scales and measures and studies that assess their reliability or applicability to populations other than those for which they were originally developed. Hard copies of these materials are housed in CIRA's Resource Room and they will also be accessable via CIRA's internet site.
